I had been contemplating hiring a doula during my pregnancy but my husband had some reservations and wondered why we “needed” a doula if he would be there to support me during labor. Another mom referred me to Stephanie and upon meeting her, both my husband and I agreed that we needed to have her as part of our baby’s birth! Stephanie was fantastic throughout the entire process. She helped us write a birth plan, prepare for labor and delivery, and checked in with me frequently throughout my pregnancy. I texted Stephanie when I was in early labor and she reminded us to rest and eat – two things I may not have done otherwise as we were too excited! Stephanie met us at the hospital after my water broke at 1AM and was fantastic. She worked incredibly well with the nurses, midwives, doctors, and my husband and ensured the tone of the room was calm and peaceful which was very important to me. I found her voice so soothing and her touch comforted me throughout my unmedicated labor and delivery. From dimming the lights and bringing flameless candles to putting cold washcloths on me while I labored in the tub, Stephanie was fantastic throughout my entire labor and delivery and my husband and I couldn’t have been more grateful she was there. I truly believe that having Stephanie as part of my birth team played a pivotal role in ensuring I had the labor and delivery experience I desired.
