Happy New Year! 2020 brings a new decade and we are so excited for what's to come...but before we get started, let's chat about all the things we accomplished in 2019!
I am a dreamer by nature and I love setting goals, but it’s borderline a problem that I’m always jumping to do and achieve the next thing! I have a hard time being still and appreciating the moment that I’m in. Because of this, my 2020 goals look a little different and I’m really excited to slow down, smell the flowers, and just celebrate how far we have come! So to start this process, I thought it would be important and extremely helpful to sit down and review How 2 Mom’s 2019 year. I want to acknowledge what we did and how much we achieved. I’m not doing this to brag or gloat, but rather practice what I preach and give myself the ability to see the work we did on paper! It’s easier to celebrate when you have something tangible to look at. I suggest you do the same! As moms and people, let’s stop “shoulding on ourselves” and start celebrating what we DID do.
2018 Parent Blogger of the Year
At the end of 2018, we were named Parent Blogger of the Year by The Twin Cities Collective. We were able to carry that title almost all of 2019. It was a true honor, and we owe the win to all of you. Thank you for loyalty, and for your vote! This year we will hold and carry the title of runner up proudly!
Guest on the To Emerge Podcast
We had the absolute honor of being a guest on the Emerge Mother’s Academy Podcast, To Emerge back in February for their constructive parenting month, which is one of the core values of Emerge Mothers Academy. In the episode, you will hear about How 2 Mom’s passion for empowering women as they walk through pregnancy, birth, and motherhood. We talked about how we as women are stronger when we come together and support one another.
Website Updates
With the help of my cousin, we were able to make some pretty substantial and impressive website updates. Those updates improved the functionality, appearance, and depth of the overall site. We also added some information and pages. Please, take a look around and give us your feedback! We always want to stay up to date and constantly evolve and improve! A big thanks to my cousin for her expertise and patience!
The How 2 Mom Team
We launched our Doula Agency and welcomed SIX Independent Contractors to our team that include Birth Doulas, Placenta Encapsulators, Lactation Counselors, and Photographers! We are definitely still in the beginning stages, and still working out some details, but we couldn’t be more excited to help MORE families during this stage of life. We are still working on getting all the bio’s up! The best part is this is just the beginning!
Births Attended
How 2 Mom had the pleasure of supporting so many amazing families through their pregnancy, birth and postpartum journeys in 2019. We truly enjoyed being apart of each and every birth, and love the diversity of families, and variety of birth stories we get to witness and experience. This year we supported home, birth center, and hospital births. Thank you to all of our clients for trusting and sharing your lives with us.
Consistent Blogging
For most of 2019 we published weekly blogs! I have been blogging for years but really inconsistently! It is very difficult to prioritize blogging while being home with 3 kids, but it is important that we continue to provide you all with weekly information and support on your motherhood journey.
Resource Directory
We also launched our Resource Directory this year! How 2 Mom has spent years networking and finding the best of the best in all the areas and industries that local Minnesota moms may need. This directory makes finding resources very easy. All listings have direct links to their websites! And again, these are all professionals, brands, and companies that I know personally, and for some, have even treated with or personally worked with!
Events
We hosted, co-hosted, and spoke at a number of events this year! We had such a blast meeting so many mamas and connecting with this community in person! We also learned so much at each event, and look forward to many more in 2020!
Disneyland
This was a personal one but we were able to bring our kids to Disneyland!!! And we had so much fun! Take a minute to read the blog I wrote reliving all the special moments!
Brand Partnerships
We had the absolute pleasure of working with some amazing companies this year to bring our community the best products and services though posts and blogs. We only suggest products or companies that we truly enjoy, use and feel will make a significant difference in other mom’s lives. While we have been compensated for some of these partnerships, which is one of the ways we are able to stay in business, we carefully select who we work with and what we recommend.
McKenzie TV Debut
Here’s another personal one, and this one was a proud mom moment! My good friend and Fox 9 Contributor, Carisa Rasmussen asked if McKenzie would join her for a segment on the morning news! She didn’t say too much, but looked absolutely adorable! I was so proud of her!
Vendor Events
In addition to the events I mentioned above, we also participated in 3 vendor events this year! We had so much fun being creative and putting our table display together! We represented How 2 Mom at the Twin Cities Mobile Mommy Launch Party, Birth & Baby Expo, and Chiropractic Expo! We were also voted as 2019 Best of the Twin Cities at the Birth & Baby Expo!
Support Groups
This part of our community is still very much in the beginning stages as well but we have created a private and confidential support group for moms who have experience with infertility. We are in the process of created other support groups as well. For example, moms who have experienced loss. We meet virtually, create a very safe and intimate place, and just provide resources from others who have experienced a similar path.
Newsletter
Another thing we started doing in 2019 was sending out exclusive monthly newsletters. These emails include tips and tricks that are only shared in the emails, plus monthly motivation, all blogs published the previous months, some exclusive deals and giveaways, and so much more. Make sure to subscribe if you aren’t already on the list!
Our Store
We also created a Shop page! It’s the page on our website that you can purchase products we either carry like our t-shirts and favorite oil blends or the products from other companies we love and suggest. The Shop page also includes some amazing programs we love.
What a year!!! Like I mentioned above, we live in a society where we only focus on what we DIDN’T do vs. what we DID do. As silly as it sounds, writing this blog and creating this list made it clear that How 2 Mom had an amazing, productive and successful year! In life and business, we need to celebrate every stage and every step, whether big or small!
