What is Placenta Encapsulation?

Placenta encapsulation is the process of preparing the mother’s placenta after the birth of her baby(ies) (by separating the membranes and umbilical cord from the placenta, rinsing and draining maternal and fetal blood) and dehydrating it to then be ground and placed into capsules for the mother to ingest as she sees fit. The ingestion of the placenta is known as placentophagy. The purpose of placentophagy by the mother is to reintroduce the beneficial vitamins, minerals, hormones, proteins, and other nutrients to her body following labor and birth to help restore a more balanced body function, prevent “baby blues” and the more serious postpartum depression, increase breast-milk production, shorten healing time, increase maternal energy levels, and provide an overall feeling of wellness to aid in the transition between pregnancy and the early postpartum period in the woman who has just given birth.

The packages listed below include pick up from your place of birth, delivery of capsules within 48-72 hours, a comprehensive printed guide with dosage and storage instructions, and an umbilical cord keepsake.

I could go on and on about Stephanie and How2Mom. Stephanie was referred to me by a friend and I truly believe she changed my life for the better. I was having a hard time with my doctors list3ning to my wants and needs during pregnancy and Stephanie helped me find my voice! This lead to an amazing labor and delivery and I could not be more grateful. She is great at communicating, is fully supportive of your plan, explains every step of pregnancy/labor and delivery and postpartum extremely well, and is overall a genuine person. I was able to lean on Stephanie through every aspect of becoming a mom and I could not have done it without her! My husband even jokes that next pregnancy Stephanie and I can do it without him. Ha! I also got my placenta encapsulated and my placenta tincture from Stephanie. She was able to get it to me very quickly and gave amazing directions on how to use them. Again, she was there to answer all of my questions and I am so very grateful! Everyone needs Stephanie in their life and pregnancies! Thank you for everything you have done and continue to

Having Stephanie as our Doula was an amazing experience. We had some difficulties up until delivery including a breech baby up until 38 weeks. Stephanie gave me some Spinning Babies exercises to help get him flipped around. She also helped me advocate for myself during my prenatal appointments when things got a little confusing/I was getting mixed messages.Labor and delivery progressed quickly and although we anticipated being in the hospital for many hours, suddenly we realized things were going to happen much more quickly than anticipated. Stephanie left a meeting she was in to get there on time for us. By the time Stephanie got there my husband was ready for a break and was also feeling overwhelmed by the situation as he didn’t know how to comfort anymore and also didn’t know how to help encourage me when I was asking for an epidural (despite this not being in our birth plan).Because Stephanie was there, my husband was able to go to the bathroom. And by the time he came back the baby was on his way out. If Stephanie hadn’t been there, I’m pretty sure there wouldn’t have been anyone else in the room when baby came. She

When my husband and I finally decided to complete our family with one more baby, there were a few things that I HAD to do differently this time around. My previous 3 pregnancy’s were all different. My first son Connor, I had at 19. A pretty uneventful pregnancy and a pretty typical vaginal delivery but he was taken from me because the cord wrapped around his neck and he was having trouble breathing. 7 years later, at 26 Jaxon was conceived. His pregnancy was filled with back problems, swollen feet, high blood pressure and the dreaded pre-eclampsia. Labor was beyond horrifying. I was on an iv of magnesium for potential seizures and was induced. I thankfully only labored hard with him for about two hours and then pushed him out in 3 pushes. Unfortunately though the doctors broke his clavicle to get him out so again my baby was whisked away to be checked on. 15 short months later, surprise! Cameron was conceived. Cameron’s pregnancy made Jaxon’s look like a cake walk. At 7 weeks I found out I was pregnant with triplets but there was only 1 heart beat. I went to the U of M for other concerns

We have been so blessed to have Stephanie as part of our team for the birth of our two children! From the moment we met, she brought a calming vibe to my journey into motherhood. Stephanie got to know my husband and I, our desires for birth, our questions and fears, and was there for us every step of the way. I can’t imagine not having her!! For our first child’s delivery, Stephanie really was a game changer. I was in labor all day and she stayed in contact with both my husband and me separately to check-in and make sure we were both doing well. She met us at the hospital in the late night hours, stayed with me the entire time allowing my husband to rest, kept me hydrated, calm and encouraged as I labored. She helped bring my labor and delivery wishes come true by knowing exactly how to get baby moving and rotated so I could deliver in the water. I remember getting ready to push and seeing Stephanie slowly step back to take photos as my husband stepped forward to deliver our child. She was there, but never in the way. Stephanie stayed with

I first met Stephanie when she was pregnant with her first baby. After delivery, she was taking these dark capsules at home and informed me that they were her placenta. I thought she had lost her damn mind. Who the heck eats one of their own organs? That is weird man! Fast forward a few years and I’m pregnant with my first baby. The wave of emotions from pregnancy hormones had me wondering how I would feel postpartum. I had suffered from PMS symptoms over the years. Not severe but noticeable. Things like crying at a random commercial or being annoyed with my husband for trivial things. Then you get your period and you’re like, “ohhhhh. Makes sense.” My sister had just had a baby 5 months prior and she had done placenta encapsulation. She told me about the benefits of doing encapsulation: better hormone balance, increased energy, milk comes in faster. I found myself wondering maybe if I should do this? I casually mentioned it to my husband who offered to pay for it, even jokingly saying “anything to make you less crazy…errr I mean calmer when the baby gets here, the better!” I contacted Stephanie who offers
