National Nurses Week is May 6-12 this year.
National Nurses Week was established to show appreciation to nurses who make a difference in the healthcare system and the lives of their patients. We all depend on nurses from time to time in our lives to care for us in our most vulnerable moments.
Nurses Week allows us to give back to the nurses in our lives. Here are some other ideas to celebrate the nurses in your life:
- Promote Nurses Week in your community;
- Spread appreciation on social media;
- Participate in a community event and invite a nurse;
- Invite a nurse out for a special appreciation lunch; and
- Give out goody bags.
Labor & Delivery Nurses
As a birthing mom, and a doula, I get to be in the presence of nurses often. I can confidently say that you never forget how a nurse makes you feel during your labor and birth experience. They may not remember you, but you will always remember them!
It always brings me so much joy to work with nurses in Labor & Delivery who truly respect and care for my clients. Their goal is to safely empower and encourage my clients to feel safe and that their experience truly matters. With those special nurses, it doesn’t feel like a “job” for them, but rather the acknowledgement that this is the only time my clients will be birthing their baby, and that should feel special!
Nurses, thank you for all that you do and for endlessly caring for birthing people! How 2 Mom sees you!
